Therapy approach
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) in Ontario
Some nights the same thought comes back forty times before bed. Did you lock the door? Did you turn off the stove? You check again. You wash your hands again. You replay the words in your head again. For a second it feels better. Then the thought comes back, louder. ERP therapy was built for exactly this. It is short for Exposure and Response Prevention therapy, and it is the most studied treatment for OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder).
