Saalvio clinical team
Usman Khan , MD, MPH, MACP, RP
Clinical Director and Co-Founder
Usman is a Registered Psychotherapist whose background in medicine and public health informs a practice focused on understanding the full human experience, with particular depth in culturally sensitive and faith-integrated care.
About Usman Khan
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. My background spans medicine, public health, and counselling, and my north star through all of it has been the same: I wanted to understand the full human experience, not just its biology. I hold a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Public Health, and I bring that breadth to our work together, as context and perspective rather than as medical care. My practice is talk therapy.
Over more than ten years working across mental health care, medical settings, and public health research, I have come to believe that the most useful thing a therapist can offer is a space where you can think clearly about your own life. I draw on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), psychodynamic therapy (which looks at how past patterns shape the present), Motivational Interviewing (a collaborative method for exploring ambivalence and building on your own reasons for change), Narrative Therapy, and Client-Centred approaches. I also have deep experience with faith- and spirituality-integrated therapy, for clients whose sense of meaning and identity is rooted in their faith tradition. I work with adolescents (13+) and adults.
I am part of Saalvio's clinical team. I work virtually. On Saalvio, the conversation you start before your first session, the session itself, and the support in between all live in one place. You can send me a message with your questions before you book anything. Your first session is free, and there is no pressure to continue.
