Areeba is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who works with anxiety, sadness, stress, and the hard turns life sometimes takes. She listens closely and works with care, using proven tools to help people think more clearly about their own life.

About Areeba Farooq

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, and I also studied mindfulness meditation at the University of Toronto.

Most people who come to see me are carrying something heavy. It might be anxiety that will not switch off at night. It might be sadness that turns small tasks into big ones. It might just be the tired feeling that comes from holding everything together for too long, for too many people, without anyone asking how you are doing. Whatever you carry, my job is to sit beside you and help you understand it, one piece at a time.

I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to help you build real skills you can use in your own life, not just in the room. I also use a trauma-informed approach. That means we move at the pace that feels right for you. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced before you are ready for it.

I speak English. I know that some feelings are easier to reach in one language than another, and I want you to be able to speak in whichever one gets you closer to the truth.

Approach to therapy

Areeba draws on CBT, ACT, DBT-informed strategies, mindfulness, Person-Centred Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, with a trauma-informed approach woven through all of it. Her practice is talk therapy. She works with adolescents, adults, and older adults.
