Zafer Z. Khan
Co-Founder
Zafer Z. Khan is a co-founder of Saalvio, a Canadian digital mental health platform launched in 2021 with Registered Psychotherapist Usman Khan and business leader Malik Mubashir Ahmed. Saalvio combines licensed virtual psychotherapy with Thrive AI, a CBT chatbot, and a separate set of wellness products (guided CBT self-help tools, calming music, and cognitive games) serving users across North America.
A technology leader by training, with more than two decades building software products, Zafer co-founded Saalvio after watching the post-pandemic mental health crisis unfold in his own community. He kept seeing the same thing everywhere he looked: friends, family, and neighbours quietly carrying anxiety, isolation, burnout, and grief, with nowhere to turn that felt safe, human, and free of judgment.
Zafer is also the founder and Director of ICA, a registered Ontario nonprofit he has owned and led since 2019, focused on programming and support for older adults. During the pandemic, he led an ICA initiative that taught hundreds of seniors to use technology for the first time, many of whom never imagined they would. That work shaped a belief that now runs through Saalvio: mental wellness is a right, not a privilege, and healing can begin with a conversation rather than a prescription.
