Online therapy Ontario

Online therapy in Windsor

Saalvio is a virtual practice serving Windsor and Essex County. Our clinical team is registered in Ontario, accepting new clients, and the first session is free.

Online therapy in Windsor, in plain terms

Windsor sits across the river from Detroit and that fact shapes a lot of how the city feels. People here often work in auto manufacturing or for a supplier that does. Many cross the border regularly. The city has long-standing Arab Canadian, Lebanese, and Italian communities, alongside a growing newcomer population from many countries.

Therapy with Saalvio in Windsor happens over secure video. You can do a session from your house in Walkerville, your apartment in South Windsor, or your kitchen in LaSalle. The work is the same as in-person therapy; the room is yours.

Our clinicians are registered psychotherapists and registered social workers in Ontario. The first session is free.

Serving clients across Windsor, including:

  • Downtown Windsor
  • Walkerville
  • Riverside
  • South Windsor
  • East Windsor
  • Sandwich
  • Forest Glade
  • LaSalle
  • Tecumseh
  • Amherstburg

Common reasons people in Windsor seek therapy

A few patterns come up often in our work with Windsor clients.

  • Auto industry job stress. Plant closures, shift changes, and the constant uncertainty about what the next contract will bring weigh on people in this city in a particular way. Our clinical team takes that seriously.

  • Border-life stress. People who work in Detroit and live in Windsor (or the other way around) deal with currency stress, immigration paperwork, and a kind of double life that wears on you over time.

  • Anxiety and depression in Arab Canadian and Middle Eastern households where mental health has historically been a private topic. Therapy can be a way to work on yourself without involving the wider community.

  • Parenting stress in households with extended family present in the city and opinions about everything.

  • Postpartum mental health. Windsor's perinatal services are good but appointment access can be uneven; virtual therapy fills a real gap.

Community and language

Windsor is one of the most ethnically distinctive cities in Ontario, with a long-standing Arab Canadian and Lebanese community at the centre. Our clinical team works with that with some honest limits.

Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, and Pashto are available with specific therapists on our team. We do not currently have therapists who work in Arabic on our team. If working in Arabic is essential for you, we will tell you that and (where we can) point you to someone we trust.

Faith-respectful therapy is not the same as faith-based therapy. We do not impose a religious framework on the work, and we do not push back on yours. Practising Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or secular clients can all work with the same therapist and have the work shaped to what makes sense for them.

Insurance and fees

Most Windsor employers carry extended health benefits that reimburse for registered psychotherapists and registered social workers. The big auto plants and the City of Windsor itself carry plans with mental health coverage.

If you cross the border for work, your insurance situation may be more complicated. Tell us your setup and we will issue receipts in a format that works.

Saalvio does not direct-bill in Phase 1. We issue receipts after each session. The first session is free.

Your first session is free under CANADAHEALS, Saalvio's standing public health commitment to Canadian mental health. Saalvio does not bill insurers directly; we send a detailed receipt for you to submit to your extended health plan.

Therapy approaches that help

These are the evidence-based approaches our clinical team uses most often. Your therapist will pick the right fit for what you are bringing in.

Common questions

I work in Detroit. Can I still do therapy with Saalvio?

Yes, as long as you are in Ontario for the session itself. Many cross-border workers in Windsor are our clients. The work continues over secure video; you do not need to be in Windsor for every session.

Can I do my session in Arabic?

Not currently. We work in English, with Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, and Pashto available with specific therapists. If Arabic is essential for you, we will tell you and point you to someone we trust if we can.

I work shifts at the plant. Will I find a session time that works?

Yes. We offer evening and weekend slots. Tell us your shift pattern when you contact us and we will match you with a therapist who can work with it.

I do not want anyone in my community to know I am in therapy.

Saalvio is virtual. There is no waiting room. Your sessions are private to you and your therapist, and your therapist is bound by regulator confidentiality.

Or book a first session in Windsor directly

Your first session is free under CANADAHEALS. There is no obligation to continue after the first session, and switching therapists is easy if the first match is not right.
