Saalvio clinical team
Uzma Hassan , RP (Qualifying)
Uzma (ooz-ma) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who offers a calm space for people carrying anxiety, trauma, or the quiet strain of navigating life across cultures, bringing both clinical training and lived cross-cultural experience to every session.
About Uzma Hassan
My name is Uzma (pronounced ooz-ma). I work with people who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that keep repeating, or quietly carrying anxiety, trauma, or chronic stress. Often those struggles leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, or unsure where to even begin. In our sessions, I offer a calm space where you do not have to hold everything together. You can set it down.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology. I draw on a range of approaches: CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which focuses on building psychological flexibility), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems, a model that explores the different parts of your inner experience), and mindfulness-based methods, among others. Our work is paced with care and focused on understanding what is beneath the distress, building emotional regulation skills, and making changes that feel meaningful and sustainable. I also hold a medical degree (MBBS), which informs my understanding of how mental and physical health connect, though my practice is talk therapy, not medicine.
I have lived across South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Canadian cultures. That lived experience gives me a genuine sensitivity to questions of identity, belonging, and the particular weight of building a life across cultural worlds. I work in English, Urdu, and Hindi. I am part of Saalvio's clinical team. You can message me before you book anything, at no cost, to ask whatever you need. Your first session is free.
Approach to therapy
Uzma works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, drawing on CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, IFS, and mindfulness-based methods in a collaborative, carefully paced approach. She holds particular depth in acculturative stress, identity, and the emotional experience of living between cultures. She works in English, Urdu, and Hindi.
