Medical Review Policy
Who reviews our content
Usman Khan, RP, is the Co-Founder and Clinical Director of Saalvio. He holds an MD, an MPH, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. He is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario under registration number 13456. He is the standing clinical reviewer for every page on this site that discusses mental health, symptoms, conditions, therapy, or self-help tools.
Usman's medical training informs his work as a psychotherapist, but Saalvio's services and credentials are registered-psychotherapy scope. He does not see clients in a physician capacity through Saalvio.
As Saalvio's clinical team grows, other registered psychotherapists and registered social workers from our roster will share clinical-review duties. Each reviewer will be named on the articles they sign off on, with credentials and college registration number.
What clinical review checks
- Clinical accuracy against current Canadian and US guidelines.
- Appropriate scope: does the article stay within registered-psychotherapy territory, or does it stray into diagnosis, prescribing, or other physician-only activity? If it strays, it is rewritten.
- Crisis disclaimer placement: is the canonical crisis disclaimer present where it should be, near the top of the page, in plain language?
- Tone: is the article warm, honest, and free of stigma?
- Cultural appropriateness: does the article respect the multicultural communities Saalvio serves, particularly South Asian Canadian readers?
- Citations: are the sources we cite credible and current?
What clinical review does NOT do
Clinical review of an article is not personal medical advice. Reading a Saalvio article does not create a client-therapist relationship. Information on this site is not a diagnosis. It is not a treatment plan. If you have a health concern, your family doctor or a walk-in clinic is the right first stop.
Saalvio's clinical team is composed of regulated talk-therapy professionals in Ontario: Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) and Registered Social Workers (OCSWSSW). We do not employ physicians, psychiatrists, or psychologists. If you need a diagnosis, prescription, psychiatric assessment, or a specialist referral, those services are outside our scope.
How often we re-review
- Every evergreen article is re-reviewed once a year at minimum. The last-reviewed date is shown on every article.
- When clinical guidance changes (a new CPA guideline, a Health Canada advisory, a new CRPO standard of practice), affected articles are reviewed and updated within 30 days.
- Time-sensitive content (statistics, named programs, named resources) is verified at every review.
Conflict of interest
Saalvio does not accept paid placements. We do not run sponsored articles. Our clinical reviewer has no financial relationship with pharmaceutical companies. Where an article mentions a Saalvio service or Thrive AI, the page is clearly labelled as part of our platform.
Expanding the clinical-review team
As Saalvio grows, additional registered psychotherapists from our clinical team will share clinical-review duties. Each reviewer will be named on the articles they sign off on, with credentials and CRPO registration number. This page will be updated when that expansion happens.
