A Saalvio public health initiative
Too many Canadians wait until they are already in crisis, because the help costs more than they can risk on a stranger they have never met. CANADAHEALS is how Saalvio answers that. It opens two doors, and you decide which one fits today.
The app year
The full self-help library in the Saalvio mobile app, including Thrive AI, AI-guided exercises, cognitive games, calming music, and videos. Pick any paid plan, enter the code, and the year is on us.
A free first conversation
Fifty minutes with a registered psychotherapist or registered social worker on our team, over secure video. You decide afterward whether you want a second session. If a session feels like a lot, you can message a therapist your questions first, at no cost and with no commitment.
The public mental health waitlists that prompted us to build Saalvio have not gone away. CANADAHEALS is how we make sure cost, fit anxiety, and not knowing where to start are not the things that stop a Canadian from getting help.
The two paths exist because the barriers come in a different order for different people. For some, the wall is cost. For others, it is not knowing whether a therapist will understand the family they come from, speak their first language, or have sat with someone like them before. CANADAHEALS removes both walls.
The app year gives you a private space to start on your own terms, tonight, on your phone. The free first session gives you a real human conversation with a registered therapist when you are ready for one. Messaging sits between the two: it lets you ask a therapist your questions before you ever book, so the first session is a choice you made, not a leap you took blind.
The initiative is named CANADAHEALS for the country Saalvio started in, the country whose public waitlists shaped the way the platform works. The app year is also redeemable in the United States. Therapy and messaging are scoped to where Saalvio is licensed to deliver them; today that is Ontario, with staged expansion underway.

Path B: a free first conversation
Deciding to see a therapist should not be a hundred-and-fifty-dollar gamble on whether the fit will work. So your first session is free. Fifty minutes with a registered psychotherapist or registered social worker, over secure video. You meet, talk through what brought you there, and decide together whether to keep going. There is no obligation to book a second session, and no credit card is needed to schedule the first one.
After the first session, ongoing sessions are $100 to $150 CAD per 50-minute session, set together with your therapist based on what is sustainable for you. We do not bill insurers directly; we send a detailed receipt that is typically reimbursable under most Canadian extended health benefit plans.
Licensed Saalvio therapy is live in Ontario today. Other Canadian provinces and the United States are rolling out in stages.
Path B: the easiest first step
You should be able to ask a therapist a question before you ever sit down with one. If a free session still feels like a lot, write a message first. Open any therapist's profile and use the Message button. Ask what you need to ask: whether she speaks your first language, whether she has worked with someone like you, her training, her approach, what a first session feels like. There is no cost, and there is no commitment.
Messages are not therapy by text, and not a clinical assessment. They are not crisis support; messaging is asynchronous and is not monitored in real time. They are the short conversation a careful person would reasonably want to have with a real clinician before they pick one.
Once you have started therapy, messaging stays open with your therapist for brief clarifications between sessions. It is the connecting feature across Saalvio's platform.
The Saalvio app, Thrive AI, and pre-booking messaging are not crisis services. Saalvio is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. If you are in mental health crisis, please call 988 (the Suicide Crisis Helpline of Canada) or visit your nearest emergency department.
You do not have to decide everything tonight. Start a free first session, send a therapist your questions first, or claim the free app year and begin on your own. Whichever door you pick, the others are still here when you want them.
