Online therapy in Burlington

Saalvio is a virtual practice serving Burlington and the rest of Halton Region. Our clinical team is registered in Ontario, accepting new clients, and the first session is free.

Online therapy in Burlington, in plain terms

Burlington sits at the western end of Lake Ontario, between Hamilton and Oakville. It has a long-established residential character, a lakefront downtown that is part of daily life for many residents, and a quieter pace than the cities to the east. Many people who live here commute into Hamilton, Mississauga, or Toronto.

Therapy with Saalvio in Burlington happens over secure video. You can do a session from your house in Aldershot, your apartment downtown, or your kitchen in Headon Forest. No drive, no waiting room.

Our clinicians are registered psychotherapists and registered social workers in Ontario. The first session is free.

  • Downtown Burlington
  • Aldershot
  • Headon Forest
  • Tyandaga
  • Roseland

Common reasons people in Burlington seek therapy

A few patterns come up often in our work with Burlington clients.

  • Mid-life career and identity questions. People in their forties and fifties working through what the next chapter looks like.

  • Empty-nest grief and the marriage that needs new shape now that the kids are gone.

  • Anxiety and depression that has been silently carried for years.

  • Caregiver stress in adult children supporting aging parents, especially common in Burlington where many residents are part of the sandwich generation.

  • Postpartum mental health in younger Burlington households, with virtual therapy filling the gap left by uneven local perinatal appointment access.

Insurance and fees

Most Burlington employers carry extended health benefits that reimburse for registered psychotherapists and registered social workers. The major Canadian insurers (Manulife, Sun Life, Canada Life, Green Shield, Desjardins) cover both categories on most plans.

If you are retired or self-employed, ask about our subsidised sliding-scale spots. The first session is always free regardless of coverage.

Saalvio does not direct-bill in Phase 1. We issue receipts after each session.

Your first session is free under CANADAHEALS, Saalvio's standing public health commitment to Canadian mental health. Saalvio does not bill insurers directly; we send a detailed receipt for you to submit to your extended health plan.

Therapy approaches that help

These are the evidence-based approaches our clinical team uses most often. Your therapist will pick the right fit for what you are bringing in.

Common questions

I am retired and my benefits ended. Can I still afford therapy?

Possibly. We hold subsidised sliding-scale spots and the first session is always free. Talk to us about what you can sustain.

I am caring for my parent and falling apart. Is that something I can bring?

Yes. Caregiver burnout is one of the most common reasons people in their fifties and sixties reach out. Our clinical team takes it seriously.

I tried therapy in my thirties and it did not help. Why try now?

Therapy you tried twenty years ago may not be the therapy that exists now. Methods have changed, evidence has grown. Tell us what did not work last time and we will try not to repeat it.

My partner and I are drifting. Can I come alone?

Yes. Couples therapy is on our Phase 2 roadmap; in the meantime, individual therapy can do real work on a relationship even when only one partner is in the room.
